Hi !
1. I set up the General tab in WP SMTP Mail plugin to match my AWS Lightsail Plesk Web Admin hostname, password, 587 TLS etc settings.
My wembail.mysite.com account setup in Plesk (Postfix, Dovecoat and Horde for webmail as defaults) is working (both send and receive.)
However when I click WP Mail SMTP Email Test tab, I am redirected to the wp-admin page as above link (I replaced my site with mysite.com !) I can sign in but get back to my WP Dashboard.
2. Initially I thought I had to add the email account I set up in Users (besides my Admin account) which I did, but same results as above.
3. I had earlier gotten in touch with AWS Lightsail support (Plesk support page is broken since 4 days, and I now have to pay $30 a month for AWS Developer Support since Basic Support couldn’t help me !)
They suggested I update the Plesk firewall to add SMTP 587, and also 25 and POP3 995 ports, which I did.
Lightsail also asked that I remove redirects. I then went back to the “None” option from “mysite.com” under “Preferred Domain” in Domains & Settings, Hosting Settings in Plesk.
Above solved my mysite.com 404 error problem and the mysite.com/wp-admin login error problem.
Before above changes suggested by Lightsail, the Email Test click got me inside the menu to type in the recipient email. But then the test kept failing.
4. Interestingly setting up Plesk and WP SMTP Mail plugin on another site and Digital Ocean resulted in the first email test as a success (was able to receive test email which went into the gmail spam folder, which then lead me to the above wild goose chase.) Since the first attempt, all other attempts on that site or this one to test email have failed.
