After successfully using this plugin for over a year with the Google/Gmail sender option, I have just received a message from Gmail that there was a problem delivering my message. The reason given was that the message has been reported as spam by other users. Not with the sender email account or the recipient, but the actual message content. Here is the full message:

I am getting emails that read:

{Thank you so much for your interest in Mirador Magazine. We’ll be in touch shortly regarding your email. }

The emails come from my gmail account (miradormag@gmail.com) – but I have no idea who is sending them. Are they customers looking for information? There is never a return address other than my own.

If I uncheck Force from Email will I see who is sending these emails?

Thank you

Do I need WPForms plus WpMailSMTP ?

WE want a simple form to send emails. Valid WP users to login, select an option from a dropdown box, make a few other selections , enter the email content, and send the email.

Do we need WPForms as well as this plugin ? Can we configure any CC or BCC addresses ? Can we also send (like a forwarder) a copy of the email to another email box/account on the same server as the WordPress site ?

I did look for a demo of this plugin, but alas. I don’t currently have WP installed, so cannot test the plugin at present.

Hi,

using your plugin, for a good number of years now it has been working successfully sending mail via Office 365 but recently (in fact this goes back to Nov last year on a low traffic site so I haven’t noticed) it now gives an error of SMTP Error: Could not authenticate.

All details are 100% correct. ‘Authenticated SMTP’ under User > Mail > Manage email apps is already checked. This is happening on multiple sites after checking. This particular one has two factor authentication set so I tried using the app password instead but same error. The other sites without two factor give the same error.

The log is:

My sending out emails stays in outbox after I set-up Gmail mailer on WP mail SMT

last year i installed wp mail smtp, and i tried to setup google mailer, i followed the steps one after the other to get the authentication and secret key. i did everything as instructed, I got the authentication & secret keys from Google and link to wm mail SMTP successfully, at the end the test email was not succeful, but my pains is that since then i cannot send emails out from my domain either with computer or mobile my emails has been staying in outbox. the only way i can send emails to my customers is only through webmail..
i have tried all i could. my hosting company cannot solved it. i think the google setup has proxied my domain,
However, before I installed wm mail SMTP on my WordPress, I have add my domain to google workspaces free accounts, I did it because I wanted to give my email addresses a picture profile, so that when customers is sending emails to me, using public domains, like google, my profile picture will be displayed, I don’t know if this could have impact on my domain email deliverabily, and I used it for some months before I installed WP mail SMTP, but since that moment I tried to setup Gmail mailer on WP Mail SMTP, so that I can sent multiple emails, everything scattered, I have gone to and fro for solutions, but all to no avails. what am thinking now is to wait for my domain to expired so that i can host it with another company possibly the changes in IP address will format the proxy.
i just blame myself for trying “WP MAIL SMTP”

I have a problem when a new reaction has been posted on the site it doesn’t send the mail to approve the reaction. Posting the reaction is being done with the build in functionality of WordPress.

Settings:
– Enabled force sender emailadres
– The forced sender emailadres and the SMTP authentication emailadres are the same
– The checkbox to send a mail to approve a posted reaction is checked

What does work:
– Sending a mail via a contact form where the from field has been forced to use the from field from the WP Mail SMTP plugin.
– Sending a test mail from the E-mail test tab.

Error message when it comes to a new reaction being posted:
Mailer: Other SMTP-server SMTP Error: data not accepted.

I have updated WordPress and all my plugins to the latest version. As I test I have disabled All In One WP Security but it still gives the same error message.

Can you give me some help to solve this issue?
Thanks in advance.

Hide plugin settings if filter is set to false

Hi. I really appreciate the liberal use of apply_filters in your codebase. I prefer to version control my preferences versus having them saved in the database. With that being said, I am toggling some of your features off with said filters BUT the checkbox options still display on the admin screen. For example, if I set the filter, wp_mail_smtp_reports_emails_summary_is_disabled to __return_false, there should also be a conditional that hides the entire block of code starting at line 246 in wp-content/plugins/wp-mail-smtp/src/Admin/Pages/MiscTab.php. That would remove the option completely from the admin screen. This is only one example. Ideally, this entire screen could be cleaned up if a person chooses to set their config via code and version control it. Thanks in advance!

PHP 8 Question

Hello devs,

I am having some issues with wordpress smtp on my site using php 8. We really need to be able to upgrade to php 8 for our payments to work securely (bank mandated) but WordPress SMTP does not seem to work with php 8, but only for tranzactionals in woocommerce.

So basically every email that uses wp_mail() works just fine using wordpress smtp, but woocommerce transactional do not and throw this error:

SMTP errors “Mailer: Other SMTP SMTP Error: data not accepted”

In the last few days I’ve sent through my website around 500 emails, 18 of these emails (around 4%) couldn’t be sent. The server error was always the same: “Mailer: Other SMTP SMTP Error: data not accepted”.
I gave my hosting company (OVH.com) a list of the errors I found on the “Email Log” (recipients, date, hour, subject) and they told me that these attempts were not present on their server and that probably the mail is blocked before being processed by them.

But here is the funny fact: through the WP Mail SMTP plugin I can simply resend the emails that were not sent and many of them were successfully sent in the second or third manual attempt!

In the WP Mail SMTP settings I’ve checked both the “Force From Email” and the “Force From Name” options.
Wordpress and all the plugins are updated to last available stable version.

Thanks in advance for your help!

Hi there,

I do have set the plugin with a custom smtp provider, and the test was ok.

I then do have notice that email sent by Paid Membership Pro (a wp plug-in) are not sent, there is an error in wp mail smtp.

While, with the same settings mail send by the newsletter (an other wp plug in) are well sent.

Do you have any clues wha’ts going on and how to fix this ?

I’m a bit worried that this module may work in some case and not some others

Any guidance would be greatly appreciated

I am using GoDaddy as my webhost and they haven’t been able to offer a solution.
I have enabled SMTP on the email account.

Am I doing anything wrong and can someone educate me on the significance of the SMTP.php file (line 388)?
Opening SMTP.php and looking at line 388 gives me this… ‘$host . ‘:’ . $port,’

Many thanks in advance for any help that can be offered.
