New error with today’s update

This seemed to work fine for years i believe. Today, after updating it, my site went blank. I deleted the plugin to get my site back up. I re-installed from the repository and it triggered a fatal error attempting to activate with the below full error:

Plugin could not be activated because it triggered a fatal error.
Parse error: syntax error, unexpected ‘[‘ in /var/www/html/wp-content/plugins/wp-mail-smtp/vendor/guzzlehttp/psr7/src/functions.php on line 78

This is the first time I received such an error from this plugin. It’s been so great for so long, up until today’s update. Hope this gets fixed soon. Thank you!

mail-checker showing rogue ip

Hi,

I’ve had a continuous problem with emails being dumped in hotmail/outlook spam for the past 2 months. Bluehost support have not been very helpful at all, leaving me to try to figure out what’s going on.

I’m using the WP SMTP plugin with my site hinckleymc.org. Emails from the Ultimate Member registration AND those from webmail direct always go to spam in hotmail/outlook.

My SMTP settings all look ok:
From: info@hinckleymc.org
Name: hinckley mountaineering club
Other smtp
Return path set
Host: mail.hinckleymc.org
port: 26
Encryption: none
Auto tls: off
authentification: on
username: info@hinckleymc.org

I’ve used the mail-tester spam check (hopefully you can see the results at https://www.mail-tester.com/web-19vqg )
[SPF] hinckleymc.org does not allow your server 192.185.47.206 to use info@hinckleymc.org

The biggest issue seems to be that my email IP is being identified as being 192.185.47.206 AND this IP changes very frequently, so i can’t just add it to my spf record. The IP address shown seems to relate to websitewelcome.com who get flagged up as spammers. I don’t have any clue how they are being associated with my site, and really need help to resolve this.

Thanks in anticipation

Nigel

The latest version of WP Mail SMTP (Version 1.3.2) will not allow UpdraftPlus (Version 2.14.11.24) to upload backups to Google Drive. Once I deactivated WP Mail SMTP, UpdraftPlus worked properly. I confirmed with UpdraftPlus. Here’s the error message.

The latest is causing an error with Appointments+ from WPMUDEV – the error causes the Google calendar sync back end settings not to display and loses the Google Calendar sync functionality.

Aloha!

I’ve been using your plugin with Ninja Forms for a while now and it worked really great for a few months. Somehow I stopped receiving emails in my Gmail (Gsuite) inbox about 2 months ago and I missed several inquiries from potential clients… you can guess how upset I was 🙁

I removed the connexion and reinstalled it. It worked for a couple of days but now it’s not anymore. Can you help?

“Other SMTP” security?

Hi,

I was reading your docs on defining password in wp-config.php for “Other SMTP”.
It does seem like a really good idea.
I guess it would make security equal to WordPress own way of storing database access?

Are there any big security concerns that would motivate setting up an account at Mailgun, Sendgrid or Gmail?
I believe the big benefit of using our existing SMTP -account is we would not need to pay 79$/month for a dedicated sending ip? (we will be using WP Mail for transaction and contact form, app. 400 e-mail sent/month in total)

Grateful for your comments on this, thanks!

Latest version breaks Sumo’s Google Analyticator plugin (200k+ installs)

Hi guys,

Just to let you know, that the latest version of WP SMTP Mail conflicts majorly with Sumo’s Google Analyticator plugin:

https://wordpress.org/support/plugin/google-analyticator/

It wipes out their settings page in the dashboard, and their dashboard widget.

It’s always played nicely, but since 1.3.1 and 1.3.2 – it seems to conflict.

Any chance you could take a look.

Install the plugin, and you’ll see there are next to no settings showing in the GA settings when SMTP Mail is active.

Thanks!

Ross 🙂

Feature request/suggestion: Mail logging

Hi there,

I’ve actually just decided to use another SMTP plugin because of a current issue with multisite installations and WooCommerce. However I’d love to go back to using ‘WP Mail SMTP by WPForms’ one day and I’d, therefore, like to suggest that you add a logging feature to the plugin. I’m currently using ‘WP Mail Logging‘ by Christian Zöller, but I think it would be great to have this feature as part of your plugin instead of running two separate plugins which might not be working as well together as they could be.

Hope you’ll consider it and many thanks!

There was a problem while sending the test email

Hello guys,

I am using the WP SMTP mail plugin for quite some time, and it works normally. But it started giving me trouble.

I activated the plugin on my two sites (main and sub). On my main site, I do a test and the email is sent normally (https://screenshot.net/pt/r8lj3a2). But in my subdomain, I do the test and it shows me error (https://screenshot.net/pt/o29wyhm).

In the error message says to check the settings on my server. However, if on my main site the test functioned normally, then the problem is not on my server.

The plugins that are enabled in the subdomain are the same plugins that are enabled in the main site. This means it can not be a plugin conflict.

What could be the problem?

Thanks,
Rodrigo

Incorrect From Name and From Email

$

Hello,

I installed & configured WP Mail SMTP using gmail on three WP sites that I operate. It functions great on all three! But for some reason, when I send the test mail, the “from” address is only correct (matching what I’ve set up on the plugin’s Settings page) on two of the sites. On the third the “from” address is my primary gmail login email address, with no additional “from” name, even though in the settings I’ve set a from name and from email address, and have checked Force From Name and Force From Email.

Any ideas?

Thank you so much for the terrific plugin!

Anton
