Office365 Gateway Timeout

I’ve confirmed with my host that the correct ports are open. I’ve triple checked my SMTP settings with Office365, but the test message always times out.

If I switch my email credentials to Google Apps or another email provider the test emails are immediately sent successfully.

This tells me that the Office365 settings are wrong or they have a server setting blocking our connection, but (Microsoft support being what it is) they’re convinced it is a problem with WordPress.

Has anyone successfully used Office365 with WP Mail SMTP?

Any recommendations on what could be causing the 504 Gateway Timeout?

Dear Sir,

I have installed and activated your plugins on my wordpress website. I setup my own SMTP as follows:

From Email: admin@mydomain.com
From Name: mywebsite’s name
Mailer: Other SMTP
Return Path: checked
SMTP Host: mail.mydomain.com
Encryption: SSL
SMTP Port: 465
Auto TLS: On
Authentication: On
SMTP Username: admin@mydomain.com
SMTP Password: password of my above email

then I sent a test email, and it shows “Your email was sent successfully!”, but i dont receive any email?

Can you please help with that?

Cheers
Daro

Gmail Password Change Issue

According to your plugin support (https://wpforms.com/how-to-securely-send-wordpress-emails-using-gmail-smtp/), I should be allowed to change my G Suite Gmail password and the plugin should continue to work. However, it is not. I did a test here with my email account in a test project. It was sending emails and then just stopped working when I changed my password. I ended up having to delete the current SMTP connection and create a new one. It appears that Google revokes the permission to this credential when the email password is changed and thus the credentials have to be renewed. Thus, I have to edit the credentials, reset the “secret”, and then go back into WP Admin to update the secret on the WP Mail SMTP plugin. Essentially, whenever I change my Gmail password, I’ll have to update the WP Mail SMTP plugin credentials as well as the Google App credentials to ensure emails are being sent out, etc. from my website. Is this working as designed or is this a bug?

The e-mail could not be sent your host may have disabled the mail() function

Hi
A customer was having their WP emails go into spam. We thought we would try your SMTP plugin. I installed it and used your test email function and it worked OK. I could see in the mail headers it was sent through the SMTP server.

but other mail forms on the site, like WooCommerce order notification and forms and not being received. Using forms on the site shows this error:

The e-mail could not be sent
Possible reason: your host may have disabled the mail() function

So do you know why no forms or emails are working please, when your test function works OK?
Thanks
Laurence

Force the ‘Originating email address ‘ to the site address, not gmail address

Hey there,

thanks for the plugin – I’ve set it up and configured the gmail api, emails are working. We are using Woocommerce on the site. All website email now appear to be originating from the gmail address rather than the company email address that is configured in the woocommerce plugin. Similarly with Gravity forms – the correct company email address is configured in the plugin, but when the email arrives it has the gmail address in the ‘from’ field.

Is this how this plugin is intended to operate or is this a bug?

Question about Force From functionality

Hello, I have a quick question about how WP Mail SMTP works.

I’m using Ninja Forms to collect contact form submissions from my website, which I then forward to ZenDesk through Ninja Forms. Ninja Forms lets me set the From Name and From Address to the name and e-mail address that the user put in the contact form. That way, it creates a new support ticket in ZenDesk from that person and their e-mail address so it’s easy for my staff to reply. Unfortunately, about 1/20 of these e-mails don’t make it from the Ninja Form to ZenDesk, so I’m looking into WP Mail SMTP to improve delivery.

My question is, if I set Force From Email and Force From Name in WP Mail SMTP to true, will this override my settings in Ninja Forms and make all of my ZenDesk tickets show up as being from my company and my company’s email address instead of the customer? If I don’t activate Force From Email and Ninja Forms sets the From Address is my customer’s e-mail address instead of what I have listed in the SMTP plugin, will the plugin not work?

Thanks!
Natalie

Hi,

After upgrading to the latest version (1.3.3) I have a fatal error due to a conflict with Constant Contact Forms for WP (https://wordpress.org/plugins/constant-contact-forms/). The Constant Contact Forms plugin was not recently updated and works with the previous version of WP Mail SMTP I had installed (1.2.5). Here is the error and stack trace:

Partial sends (appr 300 sends for 800 subscribers)

We’ve configured our SMTP server on AWS-SES.
WordPress and the plugin are running the latest versions.

Our emails are being sent, but only partially. Our subscriber list is over 800 addresses and only between 250-310 emails get sent.

There are no errors in our SMTP logs. Are there logs on the WordPress side we can check, or do you have other recommendations?

Thank you.

Can’t send test

I have installed the plugin on a multisite network and have entered the SMTP settings on each site. I can’t seem to send a test email…I get a gateway timeout error or an internal server error. Is this plugin compatible with Multisite?
