Plug-in was working fine for over 10 weeks using the GMail mailer and previously configured credentials. Decided to change credentials for existing GMail account due to a compromised password warning from GMail. When trying to update the Client Secret for the new credentials, I discovered the bottom 4 elements of the configuration page are corrupted or missing as follows

Authentication field: toggle switch is missing
SMTP Username field: both label and field missing completely
SMTP Password field: both label and field missing completely
Save Settings button: missing completely

Only noticed a couple of days after updating several plugins.

Have tried removing and reinstalling but problem is unchanged.

Currently the plugin fails due to the changing the GMail credentials and inability to change and test settings.

I have activated the plugin and was trying to configure Gmail SMTP server as provided in this Link

Also see my setting screenshot of WP Admin. All details are correct on this page, triple checked.

When I try the Email Test after setup it fails, giving error
Could not authenticate your SMTP account

But all my details are correct.

Kindly suggest.

When click on the option wp smtp mail in the backend I got this error.
Fatal error: Call to undefined function WPMailSMTP\Admin\wp_json_encode()

I have 2 contact forms (contact-form-7).

One of them is a duplicate of the other.
The only difference is that i changed the Messages content – so i have a german and a english version.

I have setup WP Mail SMTP (1.3.3) – testmail ok, from the german contact form also everything ok – but not from the other one. When pressing send – the hourglass is starting and after 4 minutes i stopped the page.

Any Idea what can be the reason ?
Another problem: I can’t find a docu how & where to activate a debug-log what is going on.

webpage is running on php 7.0, wp 4.9.8, contact form 7 – 5.0.5, math captcha 1.2.10, WPML 4.0.8 – so everything (except php) is patched to latest version

Hi,

We use WP Engine for web hosting but handle mailaccounts at a local IT company.
So we would choose “OTHER SMTP” and fill out our local SMTP host, username and password…when configuring our contact form.
We only handle a small amount of email through the site via contact form (perhaps 5-10/day).

Now, when emails are delivered through our form at WP Engine via “WP Mail SMTP” > “OTHER SMTP”,
will the recipents recognize this as a “normal” emaildelivery (same as sent through our desktop email client)?
or will the fact that the email, from the beginning was generated at WP Engine server play any part at all?

Am I right that, when using “OTHER SMTP” this way, there is no need for any extra DNS Records (SPF, DKIM…)?

How can I specify in the plugin a local certificate used to verify the client to a TLS server and achieve “Trusted TLS” for the communication.

The plugin works fine for an “Anonymous TLS” to an SMTP server but I cannot achieve “Trusted TLS” without have the plugin also pass my certificate.

I also know the certificate I want to use works because if I send mail using postfix outside of the plugin, I get a “Trusted TLS” connection.

I have tried the following snippet to add in the cert to no avail:

After having gone though all the steps I finally arrived at the google authorazation button after which I get a 403 forbidden error.

I saw a post earlier which pointed at two solutions:
1. disbale mod_security
2. add a rule in BPS security for whitelisting

I have no access to mod_security so this option is out. I am using BPS security though, so would be good if the code needed is available somewhere.

Also what would be good is if this was added to some sort of FAQ or a support article as Ive spent hours trying to figure out what the issue could be..

I may try another plugin to see if I recieve the same problem as this plugin.

Yes, there’s already a topic about this, but it didn’t help me solve my problem :/

I tested the credentials using smtper.net and it works fine.

I also added:

I’ve installed the WP Mail SMTP plugin and am trying to set it up to use gmail. However – when I follow step “Authorize” “Allow plugin to send emails using your Google account” the following happens:
1) I select my e-mail account
2) a “This app isn’t verified” screen appears
3) I follow to “advanced” – go to the website(unsafe) link
4) “Allow” the site to access my Google Account
5) “403 Forbidden – Access to this resource on the server is denied!” splash screen appears.

I did some trouble troubleshooting through google and it asked me to copy and paste some text on my DNS verification page – w/ Stablehost. I did so.

I’ve also emptied my cache.

I did a little praying, cursing etc. nothing works.

Any thoughts?

Hi,

I am happily using WP Mail SMTP on multiple websites since a while, but I didn’t come across this scenario before: I have a contact form plugin and woocommerce installed on the same wp website, emails from contact form should refer to an address (info@), email from woocommerce to another (sales@).

Both email addresses are on G suite so I configured Gmail mailer, but the address set in Client ID /Client Secret overrides the single plugin settings. Also From Email and From Name settings in WP Mail SMTP are bypassed.
All the emails that are sent from my website are sent from the address configured with Client ID /Client Secret.

How can I send emails using single plugin settings?

I just updated all sites from Version 1.3.3 to 1.4.
Actually all sites with the native setting (Default / PHP) can’t send a testmail anymore since this update. Before everything went fine, i changed no settings. Bug?

Message: You cannot send an email. Mailer is not properly configured. Please check your settings.

Somebody else out there with this problem?

I want to use WP SMTP mail on multisite. I found I page from 2015 that gives settings that you can put in wp-config.php.

Is this still accurate?

Deutsch:
ich schaffe es nicht das die e-Mails an die registrierten User rausgehen.
eine Testmail an den Administrator wird gesendet und es funktioniert alles, jedoch nicht an den user. Emails gehen nur an die Domäne mit wie die Webseite. An andere Domänen geht kein e-Mail raus. Auch wenn ein registrierter user sein passwort anfordert, bekommt er die Meldung “Es wurde eine E-Mail zum Zurücksetzen des Passworts versandt.” Er bekommt jedoch keine e-Mail.
Es erscheint eine Fehlermeldung bei WP:

I can not do it the emails go out to the registered users.
a testmail is sent to the administrator and everything works, but not to the user. Emails only go to the domain as the website. To other domains no e-mail comes out. Even if a registered user requests his password, he receives the message “A password reset email has been sent.” He does not receive an e-mail.
An error message appears at WP:

PHPMailer was able to connect to SMTP server but failed while trying to send an email.
Consider running an email test after fixing it.

I’m already experimenting for 3 days but can not get it.
Why is it and what did I overlook?

If I have the default/php (or any) of the send options checked, I can’t even send the test email. The button is inactive and says, “You cannot send an email. Mailer is not properly configured. Please check your settings.” Do you know why this would be, even if just the default setting is checked? Is it a server issue?

I have configured the plugin using Mailgun. Test emails are successfull and repeatable, and I verified that I received the test emails.

However, 100% of new user activation emails are undelivered. The Mailgun interface indicates does NOT indicate that those emails were ever processed, however it does indicate that the test emails were processed.

This is a Multisite set up using a Ubuntu VPS.
