Hi
We have installed your plugin with success.
Our mails (Google) through your plugin are going directly to our clients SPAM folder
The recommendation of Google Support is that we obtain your SPF records so we include the information on our server for our specific account.

Could you please help us and provide the information.

Hello,

Should I activate this plugin in network mode (Network Activate), or just set multisite settings in wp-config.php and activate only on main site?

Thank you!

I am on my 5th or 6th hour and need help! A third party developed my WP site (escrowmint.com) I could not change his email to my own since I did not receive an email verification. I was able to force the change through http://www.escrowmint.com/wp-admin/options.php but I still do not receive any emails from Word Press or my website. I contacted my host (AWS) a week ago who did not respond. I contacted customer support for gmail which I have my email through but they were not helpful either. I am not sure what the solution is. I found this suggestion but I cannot believe it this this complicated to fix this issue (I am non-technical) https://wpforms.com/how-to-securely-send-wordpress-emails-using-gmail-smtp/

Hey, guys!

Would you, please, consider maintaining a changelog for this plugin?
I hate updating plugins blindly, without knowing what’s new or if I need to revise my settings after the update.

Password Stored in Plain Text in wp_options

Hi,

After going through a DB export I noticed the wp_mail_smtp option stores our WP Admin username and password in plain text. This is in the serialized array with autotls, host, port, encryption, user, pass, and auth.

I am using the Gmail API method so I don’t see why this needs to be saved in the database and why it’s saved in plain text. This is a major security concern as anyone who grabs a db export has the admin login right there.

Please advise.

Thanks,
Brian

I am getting 500 error when attempting a test email with google authenticated.

I’ve read the other threads and updated to version 1.4.1 and still getting the error.

The contact forms on the website are firing properly and we are receiving the emails so I know that gmail is properly connected.

Why the 500 error when sending test emails inside your dashboard?

Please advise.

Removing Connection does not clear GMail email

Hi,
I want to change the From email I used to setup WP Mail SMTP but can not do so because the From Email and From Name are grey-out.

I understand that Removing the connection should allow me to do what I want but even after removing the connection or indeed changing to another Mailer all together does not clear the From Email or From Names or allows me to reset them.

Thanks for your help

Not sending activation emails

I am running WordPress on a Ubuntu VPS.

I couldn’t get emails to send using the PHP mail function and completely gave up and started using a plugin called WP Mail SMTP.

The test emails using the WP Mail SMTP all get delivered. The problem is new user activation emails don’t get delivered. Even if I go into the dashboard and find the user under “pending” and click “email” they still don’t get the email.

Now, when I go into the backend and click “generate password” that email gets delivered.

So…

WP Mail SMTP Plugin Test email = delivered
New user registrations = not delivered
New user re-send email = not delivered
Generated password for existing user = delivered

PHP version compatability

What PHP versions are compatible with wp mail SMTP please?

In the wordpress repository it states:

“Requires PHP Version: 5.3 or higher”

Does that imply that it’s compatible all the way to 7.2?

Perhaps stating the upper as well as lower compatible versions would be an idea?

I’m looking to go to PHP7.0 specifically at this time.

Thanks

Cheers

From address ignored

Hi –
I’m quite confused. I’m using SMTP settings through Fastmail.com, which has been working great for years. However, on my new site, ALL from emails (including when I click the “Force From Email” in the plugin settings) come from our general “appointments@queenbeesalonspa.com” address, which I can’t even find configured as an address in the admin. The plugin is also ignoring the woocommerce from address that’s set in the woo email settings screen. The only way I can get email to respect my from addresses is to turn off the Mail SMTP plugin, which is not a good solution as my emails get routes as spam when I do that. I would appreciate any help.

I have an error when sending the email. So I believe I have to update some config:

EMAIL DELIVERY ERROR: the plugin WP Mail SMTP v1.4.1 logged this error during the last time it tried to send an email:
Please review your WP Mail SMTP settings in plugin admin area
. Consider running an email test after fixing it.

But when I try to click on the “plugin area” I het another error, so I can’t change any of the settings:

The link you followed has expired.

Please try again.

How could I fix the “expired” link above?

How do I: Change the email that the plugin uses?

Hi,
Firstly – I love this plugin, so I don’t really want to delete it and use another if I don’t have to.

But…

I’ve duplicated my website on a new hosting providers servers & changed the DNS records to point to the new host.

While the site was being duplicated and set up/tested, the site was given a new email address. This has now been changed in settings, but despite uninstalling the plugin, purging the cache several times, running WP-Optimize, etc, then reinstalling the plugin, the plugin still believes that the email is the temporary one and it won’t reflect what it shows on the WP Settings page.

Please can you advise how to resolve this, or could it be a quirk of WP5.0?

Many thanks!

The 5.0 Upgrade caused many issues… I’ve been grappling with my host for 2 days and my site has been down – I finally was able to replace scriptloader.php and FINALLY get back into my site however NOW I have this warning and no content under any of my posts (and hoping it is the only issue back to recovery, but doubting it!)

PLEASE HELP!

NOTE: MY site is using the twenty fourteen template for now until everything gets resolved.
My preferred template is only displaying ONE post at this time – SINCE the update

OMG I want to kill myself for even hitting update.

Hi,

I have never had any problems with this plugin, I use it for multiple websites, all based on the same SMTP server settings, etc. 5 days ago it gives me out of the blue the error that is not able to send emails. We followed your instructions; triple checked the settings, contacted the host, there is nothing wrong. We disabled all plugins, no change. The only change was the update to WordPress 5.0, so we downgraded to 4.9.8 to see, but no change. It keeps saying, mail cannot be send.

It’s the general error:

Could not connect to the SMTP host.

This means your web server was unable to connect to #####hostserver####.
Typically this error is returned for one of the following reasons:
-SMTP settings are incorrect (wrong port, security setting, incorrect host).
-Your web server is blocking the connection.
-Your SMTP host is rejecting the connection.

Not Acceptable message from Bluehost

Hi!
I frequently use your plugin to great success on my clients’ sites.

However, I have a client on Bluehost and when I go to validate with Google, I get the dreaded…
“Not Acceptable!
An appropriate representation of the requested resource could not be found on this server. This error was generated by Mod_Security.”

Here’s the Mod_Security error message (URL disguised)

ModSecurity: Access denied with code 406 (phase 2). Match of “beginsWith http://%{SERVER_NAME}/” against “MATCHED_VAR” required. [file “/etc/httpd/modsecurity.d/10_asl_rules.conf”] [line “1974”] [id “340595”] [rev “16”] [msg “Remote File Injection attempt in ARGS”] [severity “WARNING”] [hostname “website-url.com”] [uri “/wordpress/wp-admin/options-general.php”] [unique_id “XA2YWkrc220AAioT6c8AAABH”]

(I’m not sure why the “beginsWith http://” is http… The site, the plugin settings, Google API, etc. settings are all set up properly with https://)

While searching the web on the problem, there’s anecdotal evidence of getting Bluehost to address the problem via turning off a Mod_Security rule or two and/or whitelisting the website IP address (I think).

I have tried contacting Bluehost (so far only once) and was stonewalled, with the tech saying “It’s shared server, we can’t make a change for you without affecting everyone on the server”.

I can’t turn off Mod_Security in the .htaccess, but I wonder if I could turn off a rule or whitelist an IP in .htaccess.

Normally, I would just use an email address on the website server and be done with it. But the client is using Google Suite, so that the MX settings have been changed… Is there any way to leverage the site’s MX being set up for Google?

I hope that you can send some joy my way and not have to switch to a different plugin for SMTP… Supposedly there are a couple that will allow the use of the Google API on Bluehost.

Thanks!
