getting white screen when I switch this plugin on

I was using this WP Mail SMTP and all was well, but about a month ago I had a tonne of things go wrong on the site. I switch this plug in off at the time. Now, everytime I try to switch it back on, I get the white screen and get locked out of my site. Out of frustration, I left it off and uploaded a new plugin to replace this one, however, it appears that I cannot set it up correctly. I would rather go back to using this one, but I have no idea what to do or how to fix. It is currently switched off on my site (I am too scared to turn it on!)

I am using the plugin with Gmail and am wondering if it is possible to retrieve emails from Google? If not, have you heard of anyone extending the plugin in this manner and/or opinion on how feasible that would be using the same connection. Thanks!

Mailgun Setup Not Working

I have my DNS verified from Mailgun, the green light from my hosting provider (GoDaddy). I have tried using “key-“, “key”, and nothing in front of the API. I have set the email in WP Mail SMTP to match the email that I used to sign up with Mailgun and I am still not able to send a test email.

Everything should be working and it is not. Please help and thank you.

Custom MIME Headers for Mailgun option?

$

Replies: 1

Hi,

I’m trying to determine if it’s possible to pass through custom MIME headers with this plugin?

Working with a client who requires HIPAA compliance and their IT guy is sent me the following:

“SSL cert will secure communication between a user’s browser and the website. This doesn’t secure anything beyond that. SMTP communication over port 25 is not secure. We need to ensure that the form connects to O365 w/ a secure and encrypted connection. Connection should use encryption, TLS > 1.0 (1.1,1.2,or1.3) over port 587.”

I reached out to Mailgun.com and they responded with this:

“Yes, we do support sending via port 587 with TLS 1.2 for SMTP communication; you just need to make sure you employ the X-Mailgun-Require-TLS header as part of these messages. More information here: https://documentation.mailgun.com/en/latest/user_manual.html?highlight=tls#sending-via-smtp

Also after reviewing the Mailgun.com account I see settings for TLS Connection (Opportunistic / Required) and Certificate Verification (Required / Not Required). If I require both will that provide the necessary MIME Header?

Any details you can provide on this would be very helpful, thank you!

504 Gateway timeout with Office365 SMTP

Hello,

I’m having trouble configuring the Office 365 SMTP on a server. Despite using the correct settings (it works just fine on another machine) every time I try to send a test message I only get a “504 Gateway timeout” error from nginx. Switching between SSL and TLS doesn’t help either.
The working settings on the other machine are smtp-mail.outlook.com with TLS on port 587.
I’ve read several times on other issues here that you requested SMTP debug output but I can’t figure out how to enable it. WordPress debugging is enabled:

define('WP_DEBUG', true);
define('WP_DEBUG_LOG', true);
define('WP_DEBUG_DISPLAY', false);

But nothing is showing up in the Apache / PHP error logs. How do I see what’s going wrong here? Interestingly I receive the error message from nginx despite the website being served by Apache.

Technical details:
Web server: Apache
PHP: 7.2.15
Wordpress: 5.1.1
WP Mail SMTP: 1.4.2

Thanks,
Stefan

Trouble Sending Test Email

Hello,

I’m trying to setup the plugin for a multisite, and I followed the documentation for setting up with Sendgrid. When I got to the step to send a test email it won’t let me and says my Mailer is not properly configured. Not sure what’s wrong? Here is what I put in my wp-config.php. The settings seem to have taken, as when I go to my sites all the options are set.

define( ‘WPMS_ON’, true );

define( ‘WPMS_MAIL_FROM’, ’emails@mydomain.com’ );

Error on Multisite

I can normally get this plugin working great on a regular site install, but I get this error when I try to use it for a multisite install:

Mailer: Gmail
{
“error”: {
“errors”: [
{
“domain”: “global”,
“reason”: “required”,
“message”: “Login Required”,
“locationType”: “header”,
“location”: “Authorization”
}
],
“code”: 401,
“message”: “Login Required”
}
}

Latest versions of wordpress and the plugin. Am I missing some config for multisite maybe? Thanks.

Still getting erros on sending forms

I had two sites using the CoffeeCup Website Form Builder and both having trouble with their forms. When someone would try and submit the form, they would get the error:

Your form could not be submitted for the following reason(s):

Failed to send an email to “email@youremail.com”.

After much searching I found your plugin. It seems to have worked perfectly on one site, but the other site is still showing this error. Test emails from the plugin work fine; however when you try to submit the form, you get the above error.

The owner of the form, gets the form sent to them anyway, but the person submitting the form does not get their confirmation and since they see this error, they keep trying to submit the form multiple times.

Any ideas?

“From Email” field in setup doesn’t validate email address with dot

Dear Slava / support,

I had to create a new (gmail) account and move everything there just because this “From Email” field in setup won’t validate email address with dot

for example: office.mywebsite@gmail.com – didnt work through validation

did work: mywebsite@gmail.com

so.. since it become more popular using dots & will be very helpful for me if you could fix that regex ..

Could you please take care of that ?

All Best,

Ben

Has anyone got this plugin to work when your WP site uses Gsuite groups?

I am banging my head against the wall. We have 2 group email addresses we use with WordPress Sale@ and Info@ so the whole team can be looped in. They send perfectly for orders and info requests but as soon as we install and set up the plugin exactly as outlined the emails no longer deliver. They show in the WP Log but between the log and our gsuite inboxes nothing. I checked the gsuite logs and they are MIA. It is like they got sucked into the vapor. So, has anyone overcome this or found a work around? I already reported this as a big and talked to Google who said it shouldn’t be an issue and to talk to the plugin people, which has gotten me no where. Anyone? We are desperate to improve our deliverability but are stuck!

Thanks!

Lauren

I saved my smtp login/password to do a test. I notice it said that it is stored in plain text. I ran the test and then deleted it from the password box. I then added it to the wp-config.php file.

I want to make sure there isn’t some file floating around on my server/database with my password stored in it in plain text.

Client is hosted on A2hosting.
WP Mail SMTP settings configurations with an A2hosting server Cpanel email.

Sender Email: A2host email
Recipients/to Emails: gmail, a2host, & bluehost

Testing forms with a few of my own emails in the recipient/to of the form field. The form submissions are successful with my personal gmail, and my personal a2host email, but not with my personal bluehost email? Why? Why is bluehost blocking the submissions?

The client is on a 3rd party (local) email provider— will we have blocked issues with their emails too?

I would like to include my bluehost email on their forms for testing, but the submissions don’t come through.

Thank you.

Can not work with Gmail 2FA

Hi,
Edited this post to reflect the issue I am having.

I am a G Suite administrator, and therefore have 2FA enabled.
The thing is, with 2FA enabled, you can not enable access to “less secure applications”.

Do you plan to implement the “App Passwords” method ?

And by the way, I don’t need to anymore, but how can a user completely delete the plugin without FTP ?

Thanks.
