Test Mail won’t get through, and I have tried everything…

I have installed zillion of email accounts, and I *think* that I know what I’m doing, but now something really weird has happened.

I am creating a contact form for a client that uses an email provider (openit.se) I haven’t used before. They gave me the credentials to the account.

I have tried the account with my Mail application and it works as it should. However, when I set it up in the WP Mail SMTP plugin, it just say that it can’t authenticate.

I have tried with and without SSL/TLS/Passwords etc etc, and just to be sure that something wasn’t effed up with the WP installation I deleted the SMTP plugin and reinstalled it. I have also tried an account on a server that I know works, and that was no problems.

Do any of you guys know if RoundCube (that openit.se use) have some kind of setting that forbids contact forms or connection via PHP? 😛
Because I don’t know of any other possible answer to this culprit.
I could of course talk to the provider, but they haven’t been very supportive so far.

Hello!
We need shortcodes inside emails. When we choose sendmail method we can see third part plugin shortcodes. When i set wp mail method it seems not accept shortcodes. How to solve this?

Hi, I am following the documentation to setup the SMTP with the Office 365 settings, but I’m having the error “Could not authenticate your SMTP account”. I’ve checked my password and everything, and still can’t make it work. Is Office 365 provider not available to Lite users? Or what am I doing wrong? Thank you.

Hello, faced the following issue/error, it appears 1 time out of ~10-20 sent emails. When we get this error we simply send a test email successfully and the error disappears, and the following ~10-20 emails plugin sends correctly and then again the same error with the following text:

EMAIL DELIVERY ERROR: the plugin WP Mail SMTP v1.6.2 logged this error during the last time it tried to send an email:

Mailer: Gmail
cURL error 7: Failed to connect to http://www.googleapis.com port 443: Connection timed out (see http://curl.haxx.se/libcurl/c/libcurl-errors.html)

Hi, my site received the following error today and not quite sure how to solve. Passwords and keys have not been changed and all looks appropriate. Was having issue with reCaptcha v3 the past few days and wasn’t able to receive a test email (sent after the warning below). I downgraded to v2 and received my test email and am unclear what to do next, if anything.

Gmail auths to wrong alias / domain

Hi,

Love the plugin. I use it on a few websites. I have three domain aliases all linked to the same google account. The first two work fine.

My last website, everything is setup without errors. When emails are sent from that site, it displays the wrong email address. The correct email is displayed in the “Email From” field (although grayed out) and From Name is filled out with “Force From Name” selected. Regardless the emails sent are received with a different domain in the email address. Funky eh? Any help much appreciated!

After updating a site to version 1.7.0, I received that Gravity Forms set to {admin_email} were not longer sending from the wordpress admin email and were now sending from the email in the WP Mail SMTP settings. It’s not set to Force the From Name or Email there. Previously the From as set on the forms would override the default set in the WP Mail SMTP settings but that appears to be no longer working.

I’ve reverted to 1.6.2 and am awaiting feedback from my users.

Amazon SES is fine but not mailgun

Works very nicely with SES, but with mailgun I get en aerror for the test email.

There are only two fields required it seems

API key (with the key- prefix) and domain (exactly as it shown in mailgun dashboard).

I have no problem when using mailgun for sending with my home email account using Mac Mail so I know that everything is fine with mailgun, just not working with this plugin on my WordPress site.

can anyone please help?


config.php doesnt influence subsites

Hello,
I’m using network installation.
I set my config.php with these lines:

But subsites don’t influence, email does not work just in main site.

First time using this plug in and I, unfortunately, got confused I think.

I was having deliverability issues and came across this plug in – thought great – I will use it with an alternate GSuite address I use. Unfortunetly I had read elsewhere that you had to use your website domain email address in the from field – so that is what I put into the WP SMTP “From” field even though I was creting the API credentials for a GSuite account with a differnent email addy.

When the test email would not send and I thought about it – I figured this was the problem – so I went back to try to change that setting in the plug in – unfortunately that is the only field that is not editable.

I have “removed connection”, deactivated plugin and even deleted the plug in and reinstalled but that info remains prepopulated

A) is my assumption that my initial error with the from address what is likely causing the failed test email

B) if so – is there any way to wipe out the records and start over?

Hello,

I’m using office 365, however I’m not able to change the sender name in the plugin settings. I changed it, check the box to force the change, but there is no change when the email is sent. How can we fix this?

hello good I have an error from time to time I do not receive the mails I have put contact from 7 and an internal mail and another g suite in the similar problem in one you have to configure it in wp mail smtp again and in the other the same since also you have to put the contact from 7 code back on the two forms to make it work again and you never know when it is failing it is quite constant

Test mail is sending fine, but contact form does not work no matter what I do.

I have installed the plugins “Contact form 7” and “WP Mail SMTP”. Configurations all passed and the plugin has successfully linked to gmail. Test mail is sending and received in my gmail inbox, but contact form on the website does not work. I have tired going to the site and sending a message, it says, message sent. But nothing happens, no email redirected to gmail inbox, nothing. I checked the FROM email address in WP Mail SMTP is the same as in a notification in form settings of Contact7 Form. Still nothing, What do I do?

Amazon SMTP Credentials Inquiry

Hi There,

I have a simple inquiry regards the SMTP Credentials i create at amazon ses dashboard to provide it in the plugin settings. Everything is working fine and smooth but i have some separate emails that we already use regards the automatic emails that is been sent from wordpress emails like support@domain.com/info@domain.com so this emails we use to signin in outlook for example to use it and we use it using the smtp of amazon.

My Question is do we need to create a separate SMTP Credentials for the plugin settings in wordpress and separate SMTP Credentials username/pass for each separate email or its just one SMTP Credentials is used for all emails no matter is used outside wordpress or in wordpress plugin settings just one SMTP for all ?

I know that this maybe off topic but we couldn’t find an answer on internet or when we asked Amazon support they need money to answer support questions so you are guys the one related to this that could help with a simple answer.

I’m facing an issue after I updated to ver 1.7. The plugin now forces the From Email even when I don’t have it checked. Had to revert back to 1.6.2 and all is good now.


Option to exclude WooCommerce emails

Hi,

I want to use your plugin to configure SMTP and send WordPress emails from my email hosting provider, but I also want to use another company’s SMTP for my e-commerce email marketing. So does your plugin provide the option to exclude emails sent from WooCommerce? If it doesn’t, could you consider adding this option?

For reference, I want to use the WooCommerce – SendinBlue Add-on plugin for sending WooCommerce emails only (it provides the option).

Bug Found – Failed Authentication Password Reset

Password reset authentication fails when password and username is set in wp-config.php

All other mail sends off, including woocomerce mail except for password reset.

Works when adding password within the plugin settings.

‘From’ header bug

A minor careless mistake in code created a havoc in the mail systems where ‘FROM’ header was always been taken from the plugin’s settings when the ‘from’ header is passed.

Issue with Hotmail

We are having an issue trying to use the plugin with a Hotmail address
We have configured the settings based on documentation
Details for the account are correct
We have spoken with our hosting company & they have confirmed they are not blocking smtp.live.com on port 587

Please let us know what could be the issue as we would like to have this resolved asap

Hi,

I’m using this plugin on a wordpress MU installation. It has been globally activated for all sites.

When trying to send the test e-mail it fails. Looking at the log I find the following lines:

Any Idea why both the MAIL FROM and the RCPT is empty? Or any idea where this error comes from?
