settings when hosting own email but not website, contact form 7 no emails

I have a friend whose website is using a contact form 7 to send emails. The website is hosted by a hosting company, but his company is hosting his own email. To do this, where his domain name is hosted the “A” record points to the IP address for his website. The “MX” (mail exchange) record is pointed to his server.

The contact form used to work, but no longer does. We were told by the hosting company that we may need to use WP Mail SMTP plugin to fix the problem.

My questions are
1. how to setup the “From” email – does this need to be an email from his company’s server?
2. Do I need to select the “Force From Name”
3. Would I choose the “Other SMTP” option under these circumstances?
4. Do I select the “Set the return-path to match the From Email” option

If yes for #3 above,
How do I set the “SMTP host” option, Encryption, SMTP Port, Auto TLS and Authentication options

Thank you for any help you can provide.

Hi,
our contact form created with WPForms suddenly stopped working, mail tests from WPMailSMTP fail with the following error:

We are using an Office365 account to send emails and the same account works perfectly in Outlook.

Can someone please point me in the right direction with this? I have already spoken to our web hosting provider (Bluehost) but they are adamant that this is not a problem at their end.

thank you,

Rob

Problem when using plugin with Appointments plugin using Gmail

Hi!

Using Appointments version 2.4.1 and WP Mail SMTP by WPForms plugins latest version and it causes problem with creating appointment – no Thank You pop-up, but email is sent and appointment is created! Submission loading icon spins endlessly! When disable plugin – all good, Thank You message as it was, when enable plugin and use Default setting (not GMail) – also all is good…

Using CloudFlare, but it’s the same when use CloudFlare in Development mode (so – without caching), using CloudFlare ssl! Using Autoptimise and Fastest cache, but they’re not causing it because it does not work with these plugins switched off (and this plugin works fine in all other websites with both speed optimization plugins)…

What could be the issue?

Thank You!

Hello!

The email setup was with AWS WorkMail. When I do the test email the admin page just keep loading and back to the testing page. No any error or success alert showing. When I send it through the site contact (as the link provide) it just loading and page turn white. After like a minute or two it went back to the contact page no error or success alert as well. Any idea? Thank you in advance!

EMAIL DELIVERY ERROR: the plugin WP Mail SMTP v1.4.2 logged this error

I installed this today and went through the entire setup just as described in your Gmail documentation. But after authorizing the plugin to send emails through my google account, although I got a message saying it was validates, right after I get this message:

EMAIL DELIVERY ERROR: the plugin WP Mail SMTP v1.4.2 logged this error during the last time it tried to send an email:

Mailer: Gmail
GuzzleHttp requires cURL, the allow_url_fopen ini setting, or a custom HTTP handler.
Consider running an email test after fixing it.

The button in the authorization field looks the same too, still asking to click the button to confirm authorization, although I already did.

When I did authorize it, I got a warning message and authorized the process through the advanced option, it might be related to do that.

What is causing this error and how should I solve it?

WP Mail SMTP Options display

I’ve used WP Mail SMTP on a number of sites before but I’ve never run into this problem.

Yesterday, I set up WP Mail SMTP on a site without a problem. I ran the test email and it worked fine. I’m using Gravity Forms and tested a couple of forms. They worked fine.

I logged into the site today and the WP Mail SMTP settings page does not show that any settings have been made and saved and the default “Thanks for using WP Mail SMTP! To complete the plugin setup and start sending emails…” is shown.

So, without making any changes, I tested the plugin’s test email and it worked fine. I tested the forms again and they worked as well.

So it appears that the settings *are* saved, but they are just not being displayed.

Any ideas on the problem?

Hi, there.

Currently the function wp_mail() isn’t working(false returned) on my wordpress.

WordPress: 5.2.1
Plugin Version: 1.4.2
PHP: 7.2.19

And I setlike following:
SMTP Host: email-smtp.eu-west-1.amazonaws.com
Encyption: TTL
SMTP port: 25
Authentification: True

Auto-reply email by Contact form 7 is completely working,
so I have no idea how I resolve it.

I’d appreciate if you could give me advice!

Thanks.

Email Delivery Error: ‘from’ parameter is missing

WordPress automatically updated to version 5.2.2 today.

So it tried to send me this email: “Your site has updated to WordPress 5.2.2”, but it failed with this error:

EMAIL DELIVERY ERROR: the plugin WP Mail SMTP v1.4.2 logged this error during the last time it tried to send an email:

Mailer: Mailgun
‘from’ parameter is missing

I had this error before, I only got it when WordPress automatically updated and tried to send the update success email.

So I installed the WP Mail Log plugin a few weeks ago in order to see if there is any error. Today can see the “Your site has updated to WordPress 5.2.2” email there in the log, but no error is shown.

What should I do now?

Thanks for the plugin. However i had to go with another one because when using Mailgun you do not hide the Private API Key in the admin panel which exposes it to theft to anyone who hacks the site and even another administrator. Would love it if you fixed this.

Thanks,

Coult not connect to SMTP host or 504 timeout

I’ve currently have a problem to set it up.

I don’t know whats wrong.

If I use Port 25 or 587 I get Could not connect to the SMTP host
If I use smtp port 465 I get a 504 gateway timeout.

The smtp host should be the correct one since it’s the same name as the plesk hostname. I don’t have a ssl certificate on the server because I use cloudflare with their certificate.
Don’t know currently what to do to get it working.

It looks like our SMTP plugin has been throwing errors for a few weeks. It’s fixed now, but we are afraid we missed a bunch of form submissions. Is there a log file that we can view that is generated so we can see any missed contact form emails? Where would this log file be in the plugin folder?

Thank you for your help!

email sent with Toolset Forms fails to send

$

I am using Toolset Forms to add a new user on the front end. Once a user is added, a notification is sent to welcome the new user. WP Mail Log shows the email as being sent, but the new user never receives the email and when I look in the Sent Mail folder of my gmail account that is configured to work with WP Mail SMTP, the email doesn’t appear.

What is particularly strange is that it DOES work if error logging is enabled.

I am working with Toolset to see if there is anything on their end that would be causing this, but so far they have not found anything. Is there something in WP Mail SMTP which could cause an email to register as sent, but never actually make it to the gmail SMTP server? Or possibly be rejected by it? All of the other emails being sent by my site send just fine.
